Conservatives aren’t typically known to publicly announce their sexual orientation or mess around with the progressive politics of gender norms. Ted Cruz is not that kind of Republican.
But in a bold and unwavering move Ted Cruz announced that he is a cisgender male, and that he is proud and confident that his party will support his decision to come out.
This prompted Lindsey Graham to jump on the opportunity to rise in solidarity of his compadre and also announced that he is in fact cisgender as well.
I am 100% behind Senator Ted Cruz. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. Millions of Americans are cisgender and just haven’t come to terms with what that means for them and their families. It’s really quite liberating and I recommend everyone, liberal and conservative alike, search there hearts and minds too.Senator Lindsey Graham
Most liberal senators didn’t think Lindsey was cisgender, most thought Lindsey was androgynous. Like some kind of sexless guru sitting patiently on a mountaintop to answer questions about “life” and “self.”
Senator Cruz felt warm and humbled by his party member getting fully behind him.
Lindsey’s complete support and understanding is very important to me. I wasn’t going to come out this way, but with the current political climate and President Trump paving the way it felt natural and right. So I just did it, I’m cisgender and proud!Senator Ted Cruz
Cruz, now the first ever self-identified cisgender man in Congress, hopes more of his colleagues will accept his decision and even consider following Graham’s example by following Cruz.
Conservatives are paving with way once again!
