Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Democrat’s darling from New York, is pushing for immigrant families to receive free houses. Ocasio-Cortez penned a letter to lawmakers on the committee tasked with drafting new legislation to address border-security and DHS funding which was delivered Friday. In the letter, Ocasio-Cortez provides her reasoning for why the United States should place immigrant families in currently abandoned homes.
“Regardless of their status, immigrant families of 5 or more members deserve to have safety and security in their new country. Some of America’s hardest hit regions, such as Flint, Michigan and Gary, Indiana would benefit from the influx of people and monies from the government benefits that these immigrants will be receiving. With such astoundingly high rates of empty homes in these areas, we need more people to fill them. If the immigrants are in need of housing, then it seems a win-win.”
As President Trump has announced via Twitter, the US spends over $250 billion a year in benefits to illegal immigrants. Now, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez would like us to believe that trickle down funding will benefit the empty communities, such as Flint, that are suffering from the fall out of the Obama administration policies.
Really, it’s just a subtle way to provide illegals more free things. If Ms Ocasio-Cortez would like for her Puerto Rican friends and relatives to be Americans, then they should attempt it the American way, with hard, boot-strap-pulling work.
In the meantime, we would prefer to see those homes sit abandoned rather than cost the American people another dime towards illegal immigrants. They are already receiving free healthcare, food, education, and travel expenses away from the border. As US citizens, we must demand that the line be drawn somewhere.
